Morgan County Highway Executive Joe Miller was present to accept the award at TCSA Fall Conference and Trade show in Chattanooga

Chattanooga, TN [October 19, 2023] – At the recent fall conference for Tennessee County Services Association (TCSA) in Chattanooga, Morgan County Highway Department received a ‘County Success Story’ award for its inaugural ‘Highway Administrative Assistants Training’ Day, held in Wartburg, TN.

Morgan County Highway Executive Joe Miller, along with partner organizations including the UT County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS), Tennessee County Highway Officials Association (TCHOA), Tennessee County Services Association (TCSA), and the Tennessee Emergency Management Association (TEMA), hosted a networking-meets-informational day for highway administrators across the region. The day was packed with information and the opportunity for county highway departments to find solutions for common issues facing the area.

"Morgan County Highway is always thinking about how to make departments across the state run even better, and this project is a great example of Joe Miller's hard work and ingenuity in identifying the teamwork it takes to do that,” said TCHOA Executive Director Brett Howell.

One of the highlights of the inaugural Highway Administrative Assistants Day was the highway management software offered by CTAS. Jacob Kennedy, CTAS Database Consultant, was present to showcase the software features, available free of charge to county highway departments in Tennessee.

“Rest assured, we will be doing another one, and it`s already being planned,” said Mr. Miller.  “Our goal with this type of meeting is to assist the new people coming in, connect those who are already there, and let people know that they are not alone in the highway issues they’re facing.”

TCSA serves and represents more than 1,800 county mayors, commissioners, and highway executives in Tennessee since 1954. Its purpose is to improve the operation of Tennessee county government and, thereby, the services counties provide to their residents.
